Text

Dayenu, Go Down Moses, and We Shall Overcome Communal singing is a central feature of the seder. At the Freedom Seder, participants integrated traditional Passover melodies such as Dayenu (“it would have been enough”) and Chad Gadyah (“one little goat”), along with African-American spirituals such as Go Down Moses and civil rights and labor protest songs such as Solidarity Forever and We Shall Overcome. These selections illustrate the integration of the religious and the political.
